Kristina Mariinskaya is an artist living and working in Paris. In her practice, she turns to the Renaissance technique of sfumato, drawing inspiration from ancient frescoes faded by the passage of time—like a secret history that has survived through the centuries.
To convey the feeling of a found relic bearing truth, she works on aged paper reminiscent of scrolls preserved in monastic archives. Her reflections on Beauty—as the living breath of the world—are embodied in a soft, inward light. It does not illuminate, but rather remembers.
These WORKS do not seek to be seen. They are like ancient walls that do not speak, but remember. And in their silence, we hear more than in words—we feel the touch of that rare time when the world was whole, and Beauty lived in every speck of light.
